Mac OS upgrade / FMP 11 problem..

      Post

      Hi

We have a mix of macs with OS 10.4.11, 10.5, 10.6 running a variety of FMP 8.5, 9 and 11

One particular iMac was running 10.4.11 with FMP 8.5 - OK.

Recently upgraded OS to 10.6.3 and installed FMP11, db opens OK but only some data, no field names display...screenshot of 'before' and 'after' - any ideas?

In layout mode, field names can be selected, handles display but no text, trying to change the color of selected text shrinks the text to 2 px wide. Bringing text to front has no effect.

This has been reported a number of times before. The cause traces back to a problem font or font suitcase--often a duplicate. I'm not a mac users so can't give you the step by step, but removing the problem suitcase fixed the problem. You might glean a few more details if you search the forum for "Snow Leopard Font" or Just "Snow Leopard". Snow Leopard was the first OS upgrade to produce this issue.

I have the same "dispersion" of MacOS/Windows and FMP variations.  All Mac/FMP programmers should now be aware of the fast pace "changes" in AppleOS and devices. Fonts should be "Web Friendly" thus Windows, MacOS and Display resolutions are fully covered.  Check Apple support for "web friendly" fonts.
