Why not just make the same template in FM? Would be a lot easier with all the fields/data to make form letters
You could have a look at this:
I didn't know I could do that with FM! For a bit more background, my Word document has 800 words (that will always stay the same) and I have 15 'blanks' where I want to insert my FM fields. Do you know how I can merge the two?
That's the purpose of Merge Fields. You combine the values from merge fields and layout text into one seamless paragraph. You can also use a calculation to combine a text field with "place holders" and the 800 word document with data from fields in a record or records of your database.
A simple form of this "template" approach can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6xw8buafjuohncu/MessageTemplateBuilder.fp7
This is an old example so those using FileMaker 12 or newer can open it by launching FileMaker and then using Open from the File Menu to open the file and generate a copy converted over into the newer file format.
But MS Word can definitely do things that FileMaker can't such as doing a better job of managing page breaks. So if you find that MS Word is still your better option, you can export data into a merge file and then MS Word can use this file to generate a Mail Merge of the exported data and text you have created in the MS Word file.
