Well the "best" solution is not to do this. Merging the data with your original file could be a very complex task that greatly depends on your database design and what kind of "changes" you and other users are making.
If you modify a record at home while another user modifies the same record in a different way at the office, how do you determine the correct "merge" of the two versions of your data?
So how do people work on filemaker databases once it goes live?
Are you editing record data or changing the design?
If changing the design, when done save as clone (no records)
NOTE that "clone" will be automatically added to the database name.
Stop the database when back at work, import the data.
Start the new version of the database.
Backup up each database in case of errors in the import.
