Yes, I have this set up (thanks to Philmodjunk) and the contacts are listed in a portal on the company record.
I have a table called "Contacts" which contains the usual Title, Name, Surname, Dept, Role, Tel, Fax, Email etc. This is related to the "Company" table via a 'join' table called "Company_Contacts". This allows me to add a new contact and select which company that person belongs to.
More info on the details are at:
Multiple 'Many to Many' Relationships, should I use an Instance?
Very confussing need to get my head around it.
So i need to create a contact list, then link this in some way to the company form. Then are you able to add new contacts for that company from within the company form by adding some form of new button?
Once you add a relationship between Company and Contacts table occurances via the relationships tab, make sure to check the box that indicates that records can be added via the relationship (this would be checked on the Contacts side of the relationship). When you add a portal for the Contacts to your Company layout, it should allow you to add a Contact by clicking on the last row of the portal.
Oh, I'm not sure what happened as I wrote a detailed explanation of how to do this last night but it hasn't been posted.
Download this test file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1948142/test.fp7 and have a look at the tables, fields and relationships. I'm very new to FM so this might not be the right way to go about things. Hope it helps...
Thanks Brian & Dave,
I see how to do it now.
