Multiple GetNthRecord for 1 button?
Hello, I created a button that used GetNth to assign a value to a field. Is there a way to get this same button to do the same thing for other fields?
Do you mean when you click the button you want to set multiple fields?
yes, I am hoping to perform the same exact thing for 9 fields with the single button.
I have end total and begin total. On new record, begin total gets end total from previous record. I want to be able to go back a record, change information, go to the next record, hit the button and have the begin totals get the updated information from the previous record.
Worked just fine with the first button, I just don't know how to make the code do more than one thing within the button, otherwise I will make 9 buttons hehe
Did you make a script for the button? If so any easy approach is to think about the 9 buttons that you would create, then just put them in a script that uses the "Perform Script" scrip step 9 times. Then let that button perform that script. There are better practices but I thinks this will help you understand it better, because you work is already done if you can imagine 9 buttons that would work.
A single script could be performed by your button and that script could use set field with GetNthRecord once for each field for which you want this to happen.
Ok, I think I'm close. I wrote a script that performs all of those things, just not sure how to make the button do it. Doing some googling now. Thanks!
Consider PhilModJunk's suggestion the best way or where you want to get to. But if you have a script working just right click you button and choose Button Setup, from there you want to setup your button to Perform Script.
thank you both so much, i've never done a script before!
