you able to figure this out yet?
Here ya go...
I got both of these work pretty nicely, check all the comments in the first one, seems to solve the usual pitfalls. The batchGeo one has more features, but loads the pins one per second. If you use the custom function in the first link, and pass lat & long with the address into batchGeo, it loads instantly....I'll look for some screenshots
Some Screenshots....example one from above.....
thank you so much. i just started working on this.
how did you get XMLExtract as a usable script step? i dont see it as an option
o ki figured out the XMLExtract. but what is MarkersArray exactly?
I used a portal to put the address of the accounts i want on the map. how can i make the map read the addresses in the portal and display makers?
You have to import the 3 custom functions, and the fields and modify them to match your tables/fields. MarkersArray is a custom function. Every address has to be geocoded first (lat/long) or the map wont render. Try it with just 1 record with lat/long geocoded first to see if the map will load. If it loads with one, but not with many, then they are not all geocoded. There's also a custom function that geocodes all with a loop script. I copied everything from the Multiple_Points2 file.
Make sure you have all the custom functions plus these fields:
Don't forget to change the Table::field references in the custom functions, the calculations. On the List Layout, in edit layout mode, double click the web viewer and make the appropriate changes in the Web Viewer Set up.
edit: oops, forgot to add, after you change the MarkerArray Custom Function to your proper Table::field references, save it, open it back up and remove the beginning /* and ending */
i am having a beast of a time making this work. im not sure what i am doing wrong here. i copied everything you have (fields, scripts, functions) and not working.
im on a mac using FMP12 advanced. would that effect anything?
im not even sure how to ask you how to fix this. haha.
i have the map with the right fields set up the way you suggested (global, text, calculation...) but it still isnt displaying the map. i was able to make the geotracking work just find. i have the coordinates but the map isnt loading at all.
thank you so much!
I guarantee you it's something simple. Either put the file or clone up on dropbox, or put up some screenshots--custom function MarkersArray, shot of fields, and detail shot of Web Viewer Setup with "Specify" clicked.
Did you try it with just one geocoded record?
Sorry for the late reply. We did find a way to post multiple points to a google map using the static map API. Based on our requirements, we didn't need to have the map update constantly (it was more of a snapshot every hour).
Using the google map static API was simple because we only had to pass a string into the API with the various points. With the static maps api, you don't need to add in any external scripts.
I am finally getting home from a week long work trip. i am thinking that it is somethign simple but cant figure it out.
