What options have you selected for your file in File | Sharing?
Thanks for the reply Phil,
I have three options available in sharing menu of which I have enabled "filemaker Network" and "ODBC/JDBC" while when I try to enable "Instant Web publishing" it doesn't enables and promts this dialogue 'Filemaker Pro cannot start Instant Web Publishing because Filemaker Server or another instance of Filemaker Pro is running on this machine'
And sure I have installed Filemaker Server too and published databases through Filemaker Server Advance but the databases are only runing through browser on my own system by this address "localhost//fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html" (I prefer to use localhost instead of IP at my system coz ip changes randomly)
Those are options for your FileMaker Application. What options did you select for the FILE?
In that same sharing dialog, did you select the open file and choose "All users"?
Yes, the "All Users" access option is selected for all the three sharing options.
Can they see the server name in the dialog when they use Open Remote to attempt to find and open the file?
If not, see this thread for a possible issue: FMP installer does not install server.pem file
This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Bug List thread here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.
It can also be downloaded as a database file from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jt09b82i0xijbu3/FMP%20Bugs.zip
I couldn't understand I think my problem is little bit different.
Let me explain in other words.
When at first I tried instant publishing directly through Filemaker Pro Advance without installing Filemaker Server Advance my database was accessible through intranet.
Then I installed Filemaker Server Advance keeping in mind to take advantage of custom publishing. I did nothing with the database and Instant published through Filemaker Server Advance, all I am able to do is open admin startpage from my computer and the databases too from my browser. But from other computers on intranet only admin console open from myip:16000 but my database doesn't open using my ip.
Do my visitor too need to install any thing to view my database on intranet or internet??
Can't we use XAMPP with apache, php and mysql for filemaker instead of IIS
You have to have a public ip address for users outside your local network. You will have to open ports and direct these ports to the hosting computer.
Your user do not have to install anything, except a web browser to access iwp. User will need filemaker to access your databases with network sharing (Open Remote)
Thanks Chamblee but I am talking about sharing on Local Network or Intranet not internet. If there were any problem with my system's conectivity to other computer's it shouldn't have opened remotely from other computer on intranet/local area network before without having Filemaker Server Installed, and I think still there isn't any conectivity or server issue because myid:16000 (admin console) is still opening on other computers on local area network.
Hmmm, I suggest reviewing FileMaker's info (can get this through help from the Admin console) on what ports need to be open for IWP. I'm guessing you may have a port that needs to be open or some such before other intranet users can access via their web browsers.
Thank you both for the positive response, will see what could be done in this regard. Repeated question is there any possibility using xampp for publishing as a replacement for IIS in windows.
Never heard of xampp and that's why I have not responded to your question. What advantage to you would there be in making this substitution if it did work? (Just curious).
