I can write a script to take that list and put it in a field.
I am not sure why you need a script for this - the list is already in the field with the checkboxes.
If you want the list to be in the same order as your value list, you can use a calculation =
FilterValues ( ValueListItems ( Get(FileName) ; "DogNames" ) ; YourCheckBoxField )
where "DogNames" is the name of your value list.
To clarify: I use a set of pop up menus that are generated dynamically (one for each letter of the alphabet) to choose a dog's name. When I do that the name is added to a text field. The text field will have a list of dog names that are not in alphabetical order because it is added to at different times. So what I want to do is that the list of names in the text field and make alphabetical.
Is that what your script will do?
It's not a script but a calculation. It will work as long as you provided it with an alphabetical list of ALL dogs. Such list can be produced either from a value list (as shown above) or from a relationship using the x operator, sorted by name.
