Can you fill in some more detail here? Filemaker data will always stay in the file where its table is defined unless a script specifically exports the data and then deletes it. There are likely aspects of how this database is designed that is creating the appearance of what you describe.
We are using version 4.1 if that matters.
When I open File Maker Pro,
New Data Base screen appears & the following are the choices;
Create a new file using a template
Create a new empty file
Open existing file
I choose Open existing file
then I open our data file that has been saved to My Documents
All is ok, then when I File - Exit and re-open File Maker Pro I
have to start the above process again and never had to do that before.
I hope that helps explain better!
This is a preference setting you can turn off. Check Edit | Preferences | Application for a check box that needs to be cleared.
I tried several different boxes and that didn't work...
In later versions of filemaker there's a check box in the dialog you don't want to see titled "no longer show this dialog" or some such wording. If you see that checkbox, click it.
You can also launch FMP by double-clicking the data file instead of the application. This should also avoid the dialog. (Don't do this if you are opening a file hosted by another computer on the network.)
I launched FMP by double clicking the data file and that worked !! THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Have a good day.
