Do you want to import records from a shared directory on the local area network?
Please describe the steps you are taking to attempt this in more detail.
We are importing from the network images to the database that resides on the server. I have no problems using win7 x32. Hope I did a better job in explaining.
So when we go through the motions of importing by selecting the folder in the network, all that is listed is his local drive.
I'm looking for a step by step so I can try to replicate what you attempted. It's getting late here so I'll check back tomorrow.
You selected Import Records | Folder?
Then could not access the network places dialog for selecting a shared folder?
Let me know and then I'll hook my windows 7 lap top up to the LAN here and see if I can replicate this.
Ok, here goes...
We go into our photo database and select import. We are importing images by reference from specified folder, and we press the specify button.
It is here that the network directory is not listed (My Computer is not listed at all). I've attached an image for you to see. Thanks!
Try opening Desktop and see if Computer is listed there.
No :(, he has everything listed except for My Computer.
Clearly, his machine is configured differently than mine as I find both My Computer and Network directories listed inside Desktop. Any reason you can't add My Computer to his desktop? You should then be able to get to your network directory.
If this is something you will do often, you might even choose to map a drive letter to that directory so that you can get to the desired folder more quickly.
It is strange... You see My Computer when opening up a database in FM, but you can't when importing a folder? If I find a solution,
I will definitely share.
I see my computer and Network when I use Import Records | Folder on my Windows 7 lap top.
