Is this layout in "table view"?
If so, click the modify button to add the fields you want to see in the table view. The fields you select need not be on the layout to view them, but they do need to be on the layout if you need to format them.
The new fields appear in the "Table View" but not the "Form View" where I want to see them
I'm not sure I follow that.
You can see the fields when you are in layout mode and when you enter browse mode with form view selected you do not see these fields?
Any chance that they are really there, but don't show up due to being transparent with no borders specified or borders that are either transparent the same color as the layout background?
If so, you should be able to tab into these fields. Try pressing tab to move from field to field until you either enter these invisible fields or return to the original field.
If this reveals that the fields really are there, select setting in the inspector's appearance tab or the formatting bar at the top of the screen (click Aa button) to make them visible.
Thanks. Because of your suggestions I'm 90% there. I now see theoutlines of the 3 fields but the box in which the field name should appear is blank. Howevedr, since there are only 3 fields, I'll just remember what they represent.
but the box in which the field name should appear
What "box" is that?
This is something that should be fairly easy to correct.
The basic database is one which I received from my University which lists all of the alumni in my area. It was sent to me as an .xls file which I converted. Each field has a name and in Form View the names are each in their own box down the left hand margin. There are about 40 fields in the University database. I edit these downj to about 25 but add 3 more. It is these last 3 that are giving me the problem
Those "boxes" are layout text added as field labels.
They should be visible in browse mode if you can also see them in layout mode.
Note that you can add your own layout text to use for field labels, you do not need to use those added automatically with the field.
