Yes to all questions. The Car database could display and play video and audio of the cars.
FMP can interface with Indesign and automate the printing of Car Catalogs.
It can also be used as the back end of a Car Website.
Home > Designing and creating databases > Creating a database > About planning a database
A well-designed database promotes consistent data entry and retrieval, and reduces the existence of duplicate data among the database tables. Relational database tables work together to ensure that the correct data is available when you need it. It’s a good idea to plan a database on paper first.Follow these general steps to plan a database:

Search specific Filemaker sites with this Custom Google Search
Enter Find Mode (this has a keyboard shortcut, it's a menu option and there's an added shortcut for this in the bottom left corner of the window.)
Enter "ferrari" in the "make" field.
Click Perform Find.
You now have a found set of all records with Ferrari in the Make field.
How the results are displayed depends on the design of the layout used to display the results. It can be a list with one car per row or you can see all the details for just one car at a time but be able to click a control to move forwards and backwards through the found set.
This is just the "beginner basic" method for finding records. More sophisticated options can also be set up where the "ferraris" might be displayed in a portal or in a calculation field populated via a special ExecuteSQL function, but the ability to perform an "ad hoc" search of the database such as I described at the beginning without the database creator having to build in any special features to support it is one of the more unique aspects of FileMaker.
And there is a section in FileMaker you bring up using Manage | Security from the file menu where you can assign each user an account name and a password. Groups of users that need the same set of access permissions can be given the same exact privilege set.
If you haven't already, download the 30 day free trial installation of FileMaker and give it a try.
