Am I correct that these are auto-entered calculations set up on fields of type number?
With such fields, modifying the data in a related table will not update the auto-enter calculation to compute a new value.
You'll need to either set up the field as a field of type calculation or use a script trigger controlled script to update the value in the field.
If I set all the fields as type calculation I won't be able to manually enter any values when Self =true!
Is a script the only way?
You can also separate the calculation field from the data entry field.
Table1::Width Case (Table::Size = "Yes" ; Table2::Width - (Table3:A + Table3:B);
Table::Size = "No"; DataEntryFIeldGoesHere )
Depending on your layout design, you might even use:
Case ( IsEmpty (DataEntryFieldGoesHere ) ; Table2::Width - (Table3:A + Table3:B); DataEntryFIeldGoesHere )
And on your layout, you can even place the calculation field with Browse mode access prohibited and an opaque fill color on top of the data entry field. When you click or tab, the data entry field pops to the front and you enter data. When you exit the field, it pops back behind the calculation, but now the calculation shows the data you just entered.
This will look and act like one field to the user.
I think I understand!
You are suggesting I duplicate each field. ie Table1::Width suggested new field Table1::WidthCalculation
Sounds like a plan
