You could still use ODBC instead of the ESS feature with an import to grab your SELECT results and Execute SQL for things such as INSERT and UPDATE.

i'm not a filemaker guru but as i wrote in my first post, i probably already setup things like ESS...
i create a system DSN in my windows machine using the above mentioned sqlite3 driver.
from there, i just tried to set up an ESS using ODBC data source from the above system DSN to no avail.
that's my problem: filemaker popups a message telling me that this is an unsupported data source.
Again because its not. Please see the link that I referred to earlier.
