Use export records and export the data as a merge .mer file. This format is specifically designed for this purpose.
Thanks. That works. Word recognizes the field names in the mer-file and they can be dropped into documents.
So this way is FMs solution to making data available for Word (or other) uses for merge-files; the other way, opening FM files from the data-merge-manager is Words way: The first is FMs responsibility and the other Microsofts responsibility?
- I happened to like to use Words solution because it only uses two files, this one three (the export file), but I should bug them, not FM - or maybe start using Office 2008.
This workaround is good except that the "container" field cannot be exported and that's just what I need to do.
For container fields, you have to export the field contents out.
