Is there a firewall on the client machine blocking access?
or might this be the issue?
For More Information see: Can't login to FMS database on new Mac, other Macs can
This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Bug List thread here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.
It can also be downloaded as a database file from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jt09b82i0xijbu3/FMP%20Bugs.zip
No firewall and, based on the other link, no Virus SW. We are running the server on Windows XP so if I can look for the server.pem file I'll try that. Where would I look in WIndows?
BTW, I did turn on the firewall on the Mini and set it to pass all FMPro traffic. Still didn't work.
Thanks for the reply
Go to one of the macs that can connect and copy its server.pem files to the computer that cannot see the files.
Cool! That solved it... the Mini can now see the files on the server.
Next problem... since the guy using the Mini couldn't see the databases on the server, we moved the file he needed to access to the Mac and he's been entering new data into that database for several months. When I move that file back to the Windows server, it's not showing up in the list of files. It's the ONLY file that's not showing up!!
Is there any chance something changed in the file structure on the Mac that now Windows server doesn't know what it is? The server is v8 and our clients are v10.
Mac and windows versions of FileMaker use exactly the same file structure. Just using the file on another computer will not change it's structure in any way. I'd check the sharing settings on this specific file.
That's what I thought. I have heard that things have changed with the latest version and users are NOT happy. Thanks again for the help.
PhilModJunk... I didn't realize the permissions for each file went that deep. IT WORKS NOW!!
Thanks for the help!
