Opening a database from another database using a variable

      Post

I need to open a database from another database using a variable. I am using FileMaker Pro Advanced 12.0v2

I have tried using the Open File script step, but my only option to Specify the file is to manually select the database or leave it "<unknown>" in which case the user would have to manually select the file each time the script was executed.

I want to be able to Open File and Specify the file with a variable (that is equal to the filepath of the file I wish to open)

Is there any way to do this with Open File and any other script step?

This cannot be done with Open File as you have found.

What are you trying to accomplish with this selective open file routine?

Only method I can think of for selectively opening a file is to either generate, export and execute a system file that contains a reference to the file or to look for a plug in for that capability.

But if I knew your purpose for this, I might be able to suggest an alternative approach.
