OSX 10.6.8 can't see remote database - help!

Hi. This is drivng me nuts! We are running FileMaker Pro 9.0 on an Apple Mac G4 (which we use as our server) on OSX 10.4.11. Our database is a .FP7 file which we all (four people) access remotely via fmnet:/<server IP address>/file name.fp7

We have just upgraded two of the Macs to OSX 10.6.8 (still running Filemaker Pro 9.0) but neither of them can see the remote file. If I try to open the file directly down the network, I can see it but when I try and open it I get a warning "file name.fp7 could not be opened (not found)".

Can anyone shed any light please? I've tried rebooting the server, deleting and recreating the accounts access/sharing settings. I'm at a loss.
