is it possible to show a sign if a TextField has Overflow Text. If yes. how?
or set up a calc field for the Length of the contents of the text box, then put that on your layout, conditionally format it so it turns red if length exceeds a certain figure?
edit: format the calc field with layout background colour text and fill, then set conditional formatting to red fill if condition is met....
a text box with scroll bar will indicate whether there is more text - is that what you're looking for?
screen shot: left - text fits; right - text 'overflows'
That's a possibility, but I think it's not that pretty.
Maybe someone got another idea.
set font style to a fixed width font eg Courier
If you want to really dive into things with one of the more awful FileMaker Kludges out there, there's a way to use a script, A special hidden layout with sliding enabled and the GetObjectLayoutAttribute function to check proportional text in a field to see if it "fits".
Oh, that sounds pretty difficult.
Do you maybe have some Resources for that, so I can try it out.
Sorry, noresources for that one at this time.
