      Title

Partial Address Book address data imports into FMP 10 incorrectly

      Post

      FileMaker Product(s) involved:

FileMaker Pro 10.0v1 (demo), Bento 2.0.3

      Operating System(s) involved:

      Mac 10.5.6

      Detailed description of the issue:

I am using File>Import Records>Bento Data Source... or File>New Database>Create a database from an existing: Bento source to pull all records from the Apple Address Book (v4.1.1) into FMP 10. When a partial address is entered for a contact in the Address Book, the empty address fields display as empty in Bento, but are incorrectly imported into FMP containing what appears to be a full address calculation.

Exact steps to reproduce the issue:

      1.  Create a contact in Address Book with partial address information; for example only the home address City and State.

      2.  In FMP 10 create a new database from an existing Bento Source, and select Address Book and Entire Library.

      3.  In the resulting FMP database, view the contact record.

      Expected Result:

      Home Address _Street_ <empty>

      Home Address _City_ City

      Home Address _State_ ST

      Home Address _Zip_ <empty>

      Home Address _Country_ <empty>

      Actual Result:

      Home Address _Street_  City, ST

      Home Address _City_ City

      Home Address _State_ ST
      Home Address _Zip_  City, ST
      Home Address _Country_  City, ST

Exact text of any error message(s) that appeared:

      N/A

Any additional configuration information/troubleshooting that is relevant to the issue:

      N/A

Any workarounds that you have found:

      N/A

          Thank you for your post.

I am able to duplicate the problem using City="Santa Clara" and State="CA" and all others blank.  My results were:

Home Address _City_ = "Santa Clara"

Home Address_Street_ = "Santa Clara, CA"

          Home Address _State_ = "CA"

Home Address _Zip_ = "Santa Clara, CA"

Home Address _Country_ = "Santa Clara, CA"

I have forwarded your entire post to our Development and Software Quality Assurance (Testing) departments so they can change this in a future release.
