If you lose your password, you will not be able to open your file. FileMaker, Inc. does not offer any password retrieval services.
In filemaker 5.5, once you got the file open with a full access password, you can read the passwords listed in its version of accounts and privileges. I don't know if this is possible with FMP 6 or not. (In later versions, you see bullet characters instead of the actual passwords for each account.) If it is, you might be able to chase down a utility that "cracks" an FMP 6 database. Other folks on the web used to offer such a tool. If you can find it, you'd use it to "crack" a copy of your file, open it to get the original full access password and then use it to open your original copy.
