Maybe try "Preview Mode" then "Save As PDF".
I tried the Preview > Save As PDF and, while it saves the .pdf, as soon as I try and print Adobe Reader goes to Not Responding and the printer does not react at all.

If your adobe does quits responding it sounds like an issue with adobe or your printer. Can you email the PDF (Save As PDF) to someone and let them try to open the file. If they can open the Pdf then I would remove my copy of adobe and reinstall. If you still have problems I would remove and reinstall the printer driver.
Also some windows computer will state not responding if it takes a long time to print. Again which could be an issue with your printer, print driver or setting in the spooler.
I have open and Printed PDFs on Windows and MAC created with FileMaker without problem
Current FMP ver is 12.02 Current Lion ver is 10.7.4
If you create a new database from a solution starter or download a template like fmstartpoint.com do you see the same problem?
If you create a new user, login as that user, and export PDF, do you see the same? Print - Save as PDF, same problems?
