Please explain how you want the "sort order" to affect the find results.
I want to find a specific number of songs, based on the sort order. I want to create a script that will find all songs with titles beginning with a specific letter, ranging to those beginning with a second letter. In other words, all songs beginning with 'A' to songs beginning with 'G', and then sort them alpha.
What I've gotten so far is songs CONTAINING letters from 'A' to 'G'.
As far as I can tell, the sort order (what field you are sorting on, ascending or descending order...) has NO effect on the results you want.
Instead, you want to specify a range of values (A...G, for example) and get all records where the first letter of the text in a field starts with the letters in that range. Correct?
Define a calculation field that returns text with this expression:
Left ( Song Title Field ; 1 )
To find all song records where the song title starts with A through G, enter find mode and specify A...G in this calculation field as the search criteria.
