If the web address is always the same, and the only thing that changes is the ISBN Dev::ISBN Number I just tried it and the only thing I see from your post is the web address should be:
"http://isbndb.com/api/books.xml?access_key=K534SX9H&results=details&index1=isbn&value1=" & ISBN Dev::ISBN Number
move your closing " right aftre the = then put & ISBN Dev::ISBN Number. This will alow you to change the number in that field to change the data pulled from the site.
many, many thanks. It was always going to be a syntax thing, but for the life of me I could not work it out.
There is a plugin out there that can access web sevices called WinFmNexWeb it actually pulls the XML data into a text field, then has a custom function called ExrtactData that you could make fields for Author, Title and other attributes from the XML, and it will display the data in an actual text field that is searchable.
thanks for the extra tip. I will have a look.
