populating pdf fields
Is it possible to pre populate a pdf using data from FMP? and if so how?
No, but you can use Save As PDF to create the entire PDF document with data from FileMaker Included.
I would have to do this everytime? How very unhelpful.
PDF's are generally produced from any application by "printing" them to a PDF writer, something that Filemaker has paid the licensing fee to Adobe so that they can make it a built in feature. Very few applications can populate an existing PDF "form" and FileMaker can't do this.
But if you set up a layout to produce the needed PDF, you can create a script that uses Save As PDF to produce the desired PDF with a single mouse click.
You can't populate to a pdf but you can populate from one. Correct?
If so can FMP understand ranks, and select buttons? or do I need Adobe to plunk it into a spreadsheet first?
You can create a PDF not input data from one.
To get the data out of a PDF, you'd need to get it into a different file format.
Yes I was reading on the Adobe website how Acrobat X can put data into excel so I will have to go that route. Thanks for your help
