I am new to this whole FileMaker thing. I read the other thread that you referenced above, however, I am not sure what you mean by containers. I just used the portal setup to define where the related records are from. Realtionships are setup correctly. When I view the database in Instant Web Publishing, I can see the rows where the data should be but they are all blank. Thanks!
Container fields are a specific type of field. The key phrase that suggested a possible explanation is found in the last post:
"fields in portals that are a table occurrence away from the portal table occurrence"
In otherwords, if you've added fields from a table occurrence where there is an table occurrence that lies between it and the portal's table occurrence, there might be a problem. Given that this was only reported in terms of container fields--not text, number or date fields and that the wrong data was displayed rather than it was blank, I don't think this thread applies.
Are any of your portals based on a global field in the parent table?
I have my main table which is titled 'Client List", the 3 portals I have are pulling data from 3 different tables, each of these tables has a relationship with the "Client List" table. All 3 have the same field called "Client ID" which is related to the "Client ID" field in the "Client List"
Hope I didnt confuse you too much. Thanks for your help!
Are all your tables in one file or are the portal records in a separate file?
They are all seperate .fp7 files. Client list is my main file which all the other .fp7 files relate to under the relationships.
Hmm, I think I remember an issue with the tables being in separate files.
This is at the limit of my knowledge of IWP filemaker.
If no one makes a better suggestion, try importing one table into the same file as your main table and update the table occurrence to link to the imported table instead of the external table and see if that portal now works.
Beyond that, I'm out of suggestions, but maybe another forum member can help out here...
It might be simpler to create a super simple database with two tables and another with one table.
The two table database tables would relate and then the second database.
If one portal populates and the second does not...
Are the databases on the same hard drive?
Are they in the same folder?
Have they been moved recently?
Did the portals ever work remotely?
