Title

Possibility of field-specific privilege

Post

Hello, I'm an intermediate-level FileMaker end user and a Filemaker 10 newbie.  I'm just starting to explore the use of accounts and privilege sets.

In my database, I would like ALL users to be able to see SOME fields in ALL records.  Other special users should be able to see ALL fields in ALL records.  The context is a database of electronic medical records, where some fields describe the time slots that various physician offices have already booked for appointments (which ALL users should be able to see) and other fields contain information about the specific patients that are utilizing those appointments (which is protected health information [PHI] according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA]. Based on what I know about FileMaker Pro privilege sets, this particular type of privilege customization cannot be performed through privilege sets.  Am I right about that?  Any thoughts on a workaround?  Thanks!
