With FileMaker advanced, you can set up that layout with a custom menu that does not have new Record in the menu.
With a "dummy table" and no custom menu, You can set up a validation expression on a single field defined in that record that is always false with a custom validation error message that tells the user that they cannot create new records on this table.
Or you could set up the OnRecordLoad trigger to count the number of records in your table and to delete all but one so that uses can use the menu options or keyboard shortcuts all they want to create more records only to find the script deleting them immediately afterwards.
Thank Phil for that answer, I am using Filemaker Pro 11 and probably I choose second method to create dummy table and dummy field and validate the field to false every time the user create new record but sorry to ask if you have any suggestion about validate expression for that field ? Let say I create a field called "NoRecord" field. Once again thank you very much !
Using the calculation validation option, the expression can simply be:
I just have time to test that today and it work, Thank Phil.
