Is the bar code font a true type font?
It is Code 128 - how do I tell if it is a true type?
Current versions of FileMaker only support true type fonts so that is the first issue to check on.
On my windows XP system, I can go to control panels | Fonts and find the actual file name of the font. If it ends in TTF, it's a true type font.
Ok. I just checked the properties in the font folder and it says it is a true type.
Then it should print.
Why it doesn't in your case will take some sleuthing.
Try saving as PDF from this layout. Does the barcode appear in the PDF?
Try setting up a brand new database file with just one field for the barcode. Create a layout with just this one field, with the barcode font specified for it. If you enter a code into this field and try to print to your printer, does it print correctly?
Did both - won't PDF and still won't print. When I select the Code 128 font for the field, it does say I need to press control/shift and then select the font to bypass some restrictions. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Can you reproduce the exact message that pops up?
Did you use the Configure/More Fonts option to add this font to FileMaker?
What version of FileMaker are you using and what operating system does your computer use?
Yes, and now I think that is the problem. I hadn't seen the message before - someone else had told me about it.
Yes, used configure more fonts option.
Using FMPro 12
OS is Win 7 Professional
The message I got is:
The selection contains fields whos storage option language is incompatible with the chosen font or text objects whose characters cannot be displayed by that font. The font will not be changed for these items. Hold down the Control and Shift keys while choosing a font if you wish to override the protective action.
Is there something I can change to correct this or do I need to find another bar code font?
Got an email, but didn't see a post when I followed the link.
