I have the same problem .. "filemaker setup cannot find the necessary files" does anyone know the solution?
Windows 7 64bit
I've tried to install "fmp_126.96.36.199.exe" ... not the trail-version !
Thank you for your post.
When you get the error message, what occurs after that point? That is, does the application then quit? Do you get a prompt?
Did you download this file? Do you have a CD?
Did you previously have the trial installed? Do you have full read/write privileges to your hard drive? If you log in with the Admin account, are you able to run the install successfully? Does a FileMaker folder and FileMaker Pro 11 folder get created?
Any other information you can provide may be helpful.
For me the solution was ...
I went to the (extracted) folder FMICD ... then to the folder "Files"
In the folder "Files" I started the file setup.exe
Had the exact same problem described by Stu Roberson, but with fmp 11 (not trial). After a lot of fiddling around I found the problem: the path to the FMICD folder contained spaces. I just put the 250MB installer on the root of C, run it (had an error regarding disk access permissions), then looked for setup.exe inside the FMICD folder, run it and got it properly installed.
Hope this helps.
I had the same problem. Just about ready to give up and move on but found this post about moving the unpacked CD on my desktop and moving it to the root.
