To clarify, the first calculated field was: dcallrecv - dcalldisp,
The second was dten98 - dcallrecv.
Text format enables you to import the data successfully, but is the wrong format for performing a calculation.
is the equivalent of a FileMaker TimeStamp calculation, but is not in a format FileMaker can recognise automatically.
If you import this into a text field named TSText, a calculation such as:
Let ( MonthNme = MiddleWords ( TSText ; 2; 1 ) ;
Timestamp ( Date ( Ceiling ( Position ( "janfebmaraprmayjunjulaugsepoctnovdec" ; MonthNme ; 1 ; 1 ) / 3 ) ; LeftWords ( TSText ; 1 ) ; MiddleWords ( TSText ; 3 ; 1 ) ) ; RightWords ( TSText ; 1 ) )
Will return the appropriate time stamp which you can use in your calculations to compute elapsed time.
Wow. If I understand this like I think I do I will have to perform this for each of the 9 fields. Is that correct?
Yep. Fortunately, you can get this working for the first field, then copy, paste and edit to create the calculations needed for the other 8.
You might also take a swing at getting the data correctly formatted in the spread sheet before it is ever imported.
