The best practice is to have a known good backup of all databases.
Recovery is sometimes not a workable option.
Sometimes recovery done on another OS will work (Win vs Mac).
Filemaker has in the past offered a file recovery service, unsure if it still does.
"Did not work" as in the file can't be opened or as in the file can be opened, but not everything works correctly?
If you can get the file open, you may be able to salvage something so that you don't have to start from a blank page to replace your damaged file. Let us know if that's the case and we can describe that approach.

I have 4 files within a file. I can open and work with 3 of them. One will not open and will display fife damage.
