Check the key field in the record (file?) that you can't link to. Perhaps it has an extra, but invisible character such as a space keeping it from matching as you would expect.
Everything looks fine, no spaces and extra symbols in there..
I have rebuild relation and now im unable to pull any other record.
Describe your relationships in detail. What field types are you using? What version of filemaker? Is your mail file a filemaker file ro a different type of document?
I have Main Student File (MSF) and Current Student File (CSF).
I have 394 records in MSF and 115 in CSF, and the records in CSF is a subset of 394 records.
I am using File Maker 10.0v server on server, and File Maker 10v on host computer.
Both MSF and CSF are file maker pro files.
I have build relation between CSF & MSF using SSN field. When ever i want to create a new record in CSF i just copy SSN field in MSF and paste it in CSF and a press of TAB pulls all the information from MSF. Now I am unable to do that. Whenever a new record is been created in CSF it just shows the SSN as the only field in the new record and rest of them are empty.
Thanks, but I need a little more information...
"I have built relation between CSF & MSF using SSN field."
We need to examine this relationship. When you look at Manage | Database | Relationships, do you find
CSF::SSN--=--MSN::SSN? Are the field types for CSF::SSN and MSF::SSN number or text? Are the SSN's entered in the format XXX-XX-XXXX?
My guess here is that MSF::SSN may be a text field and CSF::SSN may be a number field. If so, make them both text fields.
Yes, i changed the ssn to text type, still cannot retrieve data from MSF
