Title

Production and develoment versions of the same solution. How to?

Post

Hello,

I am testing FileMaker as an alternative to MS-Access for SOHO solutions. In FileMaker, like in Access, a single file holds data (tables), table templates (table names, field definitions, etc.) and software (VBA or scripts). In Access it is possible to link database tables to other similar database tables in a different file, making it easy to have production and development versions of the same project or solution.

How in FileMaker can I keep data tables separated from templates and scripts?

If I develop a project for a customer, put in production and the customer requires me changes, updates or scripts bug corrections, I cannot tell him to stop working until I make the changes, I have to work in my development version to later deploy it to the customer without overwriting his data tables. How can I do it?
