There are two ways to approach this problem: with a script trigger; with a scheduled script.
With a Script Trigger
Use the OnObjectEnter script trigger. When a user enters the date field, the script fired by the script trigger checks the date and then allows entry into the field or not.
With a Scheduled Script
Run a script every day, at midnight, for example. This script would set a flag on each record whose reservation date is in the past. Add a validation to the reservation date that checks for the existance of this flag. If it exists, the field refuses all new entries.
Are there any parts of this record that should be editable after the date has passed? If no, then you can use Accounts and Privileges to allow editing of a specified table's records only if get ( currentDate ) < Reservation:: Date
This approach locks the record against tampering no matter what layout is used to display the date field and this makes the security more robust.
I figured it out already.
I put it "on object enter" and added
This solved the problem I was having!!!
