you'll want to think through how your system might play out with your age group.
If the access privileges do not allow editing a record when a certain field is not empty, you can do this.
Create a "done" field that gets a "Y" put in it as the last step.
Look under accounts & privileges to set Record Privileges (choose custom) to Edit... when your Done field = ""
If you want to do it filed by field, you'll run the risk of Kim adding to a record that John left incomplete. If that's OK,
make each field on your layout a button that runs a script:
If [ IsEmpty(thisfield) ]
GoToField [ thisfield ]
Show Custom Dialog [ "Please make a new record before adding information"]
That way when they try to put the cursor in a field, it will check first to make sure it's empty. A drawback to this is if Kim enters something and then changes her mind...she's stuck.
