      Protecting field after entry.

      Post

I have a database that is shared between a few people.

The problem is that I want to lock (make unchageable) one field after the data is entered.  I've tried field behavior, but the field needs to be searchable and needs to be accessible when a new record is created.

What is the best way to do this.

      Thanks.

          Thank you for your post.

You can create accounts and privileges that allow users to only view data, or have all fields editable except one.  To do this, pull down the File menu and select "Manage -> Accounts & Privileges".

Create a new account, give it a name and password, and under "Privilege Set", create a New Privilege set.

For "Records", select "Custom Privileges", and then you can select a table and set the privileges for Edit, Create, Delete, etc., and then under Field access, select Limited, where you can make it modifiable, view only or not see.

You'll need to experiment with each of these to see which works best for you.
