You shouldn't need a plug-in, filemaker has a built in command "insert from url" script command then you would parse this field. http://www.filemaker.com/help/12/fmp/html/scripts_ref1.36.46.html
Here is an example of extracting information from fields http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11956/~/extracting-title,-first-name,-middle-name,-last-name-from-a-field-in-filemaker
THANK YOU so much S Chamblee. I really appreciate the help. However I don't think "insert from URL" will help my situation because as I understand it that only pulls - objects - like pictures, files, PDFs, media, etc. from a website. I need to pull one number from the website. The code from the website is: (note: ignore extra spaces in code below)
< p class = " inventory " > < span class = " inventoryCnt " > 3 in stock < / span >
I need to grab that number 3 and put it in my Filemaker field.
It can get a picture, file, or pdf but it will also retrieve the html of the webpage from the url. I use insert from url to pull mailing addresses from USPS website and that data has to be parse (convert address into mailing address). Either method you use, insert from url or the plugin it will put the data into a field. You will have to parse (search through) the data to grab the information needed. The 2nd link I provided shows how to parse a field for the desired data.
