      Question re: election results database

      Post

I am utilizing FMP 10 Pro to analyze election data.  My database contains precinct-level vote totals for a single election contest with 8 candidates.  The database has four fields:  "PRECINCT", "CANDIDATE_NAME", "TOTAL" and "pk_Serial".

For each of the 8 candidates, the database displays vote totals for each precinct within the county.

Somehow I need to devise a process which lists the winning candidate for each precinct in a separate field. Any thoughts on how to go about doing this?

          Thank you for your post.

One way would be to sort your table by:

          PRECINCT (Ascending)

          TOTAL (Descending)

Place PRECINCT, CANDIDATE_NAME in a Sub-Summary when sorted by PRECINCT, and having it appear above the Body.  Remove the Body part.  The first record in each grouping will have the highest total.

Let me know if you need clarification for any of the above steps.
