Title

Recovering buggy files

Post

I have 2 large interrelated files, both over 100Mb that have been crashing on & off for a few months. They have been recovered several times each. I have used the Recover x 2 option that seems to give it a clean bill of health but am aware that this is not the best way to proceed.

One of the files has one very buggy layout that I cannot access at all (crashes immediately) so I want to recreate 2 new (clean) files. I suspect that this may have been the original cause of my problems.

Currently I am trying to Clone the (buggy) file, Export the current records and then Import them into the Cloned file.

Firstly, is this the best way forward? Will it give me a clean file?

Secondly, if it is the best option, how do I match up the records when importing as they are out of synch (weird since they are ostensibly the same files!) and I have over 2,000 fields.

Thanks for any help.
