Look into the Go to Related Records script step.
Thanks. That partly works. On my button to go to the view, I use the go to related records and specify the form. It works if I have related records but it doesn't work if I don't have any records. If I can't get to the form, I can't add any new records.
If [ not IsEmpty ( pkChildID ) ]
Go to Related Records
Go to layout [ Child ]
Almost there, I think. I have 3 projects. #1 & #2 have related records. #3 does not.
If I select #1 and go to my 2nd form, the related records show.
Now skip to #3, related records still show from #1.
Select #2, go to form, related records show.
Skip to #3, related records still show from #2.
So, whatever the last "good" relation was, still shows for what should be empty.
Please post your structure.
The structure of the database? Is there an easy way to show it in text or do need a snapshot of the screen? Sorry for the ignorance here but I'm still new to FileMaker.
If you can a snapshot of the graph. If not, then try to explain it in text.
This is what worked for me:
Switch to Layout
Find Set of Matching records in related table
I didn't want to automatically add a new related record if none existed.
Thanks for getting me started in the right direction.
