Title

Remote Database Basics, Please

Post

I would like to have 2 hosted FileMaker databases hosted on a remote FileMaker Server (code.fp7, data.fp7).  This will be my first try at remote hosting.  I would like to have the runtime application be able to automatically connect to these databases when it opens.  I've been reading through the posts.  It looks like I might be able to start the local runtime app with a small local.fp7 file which will open the remote databases then close itself.  Will that work.  Can I have a config table with the URL/path of the remote fp7 file(s) so that I can configure the system at installation with the proper path (which will vary by customer)? Can a runtime even open an .fp7 file or does it have to be the .USR file that was bound to it at creation?

Any help and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Fred
