let we say that your field name is "Name".
While in Browse Mode, do this:
1) Show all record
2) Place the cursor into the field "Name"
3) From menu: Records >> Replce field contents... >> Replace with calculated result and calc:
Trim ( Name )
And before using replace always make a fresh backup.
Jens is right: make what I said on a copy of your Db ( just in case something goes wrong ).
Another thing to do is putting the same calculation into the option for auto-enter a calc for the field "Name" so that all other your ( eventual ) import will be w/o leading and trailing spaces.
What about blank spaces with-in a number sequence?
I came up with this answer myself. Run "Replace Field Contents" and add "0" to the number that need spaces removed.
field name "UPC" = 8 88958 8569 2 1
UPC + 0 = 888958856921
This works for me, don't know how to do it with text. I think TrimAll only removes from the front or back.
