Try the Arrange->Distribute commands. It distributes the placement of a group of fields based on the leftmost and rightmost fields for the Horizontal choice, or the top- and bottom-most fields for the Vertical choice.
Thanks for your response.
Unfortunately near as I can tell, the available Arrange commands do not allow me to "cinch up" field spacing or butt one field up against the other in order to eliminate space between fields. This includes both the Distribute->Horizontally and the "Space" icon on the Inspector.
What I'm trying to do is distribute List fields, one next to the other just as they appear when FM automatically creates a new List layout, only without the spaces that occur when fields are subsequently resized.
I must be missing something.
I've always done it manually, or keep moving the rightmost field to the left, and re-select the Distribute menu item until the fields look right. There's a feature request form around here somewhere, and that would be a feature worth having.
If you want to resize them all at once without changing the spacing, you can first group them, then resize them and any space between them will stay the same.
Bingo. Problem solved. Ijust knew it had to be simple.
Thanks, Phil. :)
PS. due to a bug that can cause a file Recover operation to report that your file was damaged and shouldn't be used, I try to remember to ungroup the objects after I've got them where I want them.
