Repeating fields -- how they display, how to have a second field contingent upon them
I would like to have a repeating field, which activates a second, contingent field only when it is completed. In this case, I want to record all the different kinds of pottery I have found from a drop-down menu (black gloss, cookware, thin wall, etc.), and then to enter a numerical value representing how many pieces of each type were found.
If possible, it would be great to make it so that I'm not forced to specify a certain range under "Show repetitions" (e.g. 1-4) under the inspector; instead, the form would ideally add another line only as needed (up to a maximum), so it doesn't take up too much unnecessary room on the screen if, for example, there is only one kind of pottery found.
Hope that makes sense and thank you in advance!
What you describe would best be implemented by not using a repeating field.
If you set up a portal to a related table, each row in that portal can do what want to do with a repetition of a repeating field and far more simply and flexibly.
