Can you show a screenshot in Layout Mode.
Seems like you would need the following parts in the report:
Header, where you have Date, Category, Task, Due Date, etc.
Sub-Summary Part, where you would put in the field for Category (Architecture, Framing, etc.). You will sort by this field.
Body Part, where you would put in the fields for Task and Due date and any other fields for each item.
Footer, if you want/need one
Don't forget to sort, that should get you want you want.
In Layout Mode with the Part Tool create a 'Sub-summary when sorted by' based on YourTable:Category. Put the Category field in the sub-summary part and sort by Category first and then however you want (date ascending or descending, task etc).
Please see attached for the current settings. Thank you.
I would like it to look like the attached image:
It should look like that when you sort by Category either on screen (FMP12 is what I use) or in Preview Mode. You can add lines to the sub-summary, body, footer to give a more report like look, add height to the sub-summary to make it bigger and space out the categories a bit. You can spend hours fine tuning the 'look'. You could create a report layout and script it to leave your current layout more for data input.
Just remove the Category field from the body part
