In addition to my request above, I have been experimenting further.
There are over 100 records available. If I do a search for 40...100, as stated above I get 4,5,6,7,8,9, plus the required range.
If I search for >40, hoping to get records all records over 40, I get 5,6,7,8,9 and then all numbers over 40.
Yes I could omit the single digits as a work around BUT the client is searching for all records in her database above 429 and gets every number beginning with a 4 (all the 40s) a 5 (all the 50s) etc.
is the field formatted as a number or as a text? sounds like it's formatted as a text field rather than a number field.
It IS a text field!
I was just starting to toy with the idea that that might be the problem. But was giving it the benefit of the doubt as all the content was unique to each record.
I have changed it to a number field and now all works as it should. There were no ramificatins when I changed it - I was half expecting all existing data to be wiped.
