Filemaker DB's of any form cannot run directly on iPad. There's a third party app, FMTouch, that does and you can publish a filemaker database to the web and then connect via the web to your database using an iPad...

FileMaker Go is now compatible with runtime solutions that have (or have been changed to) a .USR or .fp7 extension.
As with standard FileMaker Pro .fp7 files, FileMaker Go can open and work with runtime files that are either hosted or local (i.e. files transferred to the Device). For more information on transferring files to the Device, click here.
