When you save as PDF what compatibility settings have you selected in the PDF options?
I've tried all available settings for Compatibility:
Acrobat 5 and later
Acrobat 6 and later
Acrobat 7 and later
All give the same result, no text displayed.
Thanks for your help none the less
How is the PDF "loaded into their system"?
The software asks you to locate the PDF and then loads it automatically, please see attached image.
The top half of the JPEG is the software with the Filemaker-produced PDF (no text).
The bottom half of the JPEG is the software with a word-produced PDF (text).
Filemaker seems to have A LOT less settings when creating PDFs.
Have you tried differen fonts in your PDF?
Have you tried using a print utility (or the built in PDF option when you print from a mac)?
After some digging around and some feedback from the mailing company, I found the issue.
When Filemaker creates PDFs, it uses Custom Encoding for the fonts. Whichever font I try, it will always do this.
The company needs it to use ANSI Encoding. Unfortunately you can't change this anywhere in Filemaker.
Great minds think alike? About 10 minutes before I got an email regarding your post, I installed a print utility called PDFCreator (we're on PCs not macs) - free to download and use. What an excellent tool this will prove to be, it was easy to install and will save my company a LOT of hassle, time and money in the short and long run.
Thank you for your help and advice, I couldn't find anything regarding this issue across several forums, so it was nice to have someone helping me out. You can't beat the official Filemaker forums.
Thanks again Phil
