Saving a PDF to a Mounted Volume after having created a folder is failing

      Post

I'm using an applescript to create a folder on a mounted Volume (mac).

This is an example name for that folder:  "20150213_004 VFX HOLDS" and I create it inside a few other folders.

But now when I create the variable path to save a pdf to that folder, I get

"could not be created on this disk.  Use a different name, make more room on the disk, unlock it or use a different disk" as an error.

I'm confident my File path is correct.   I define it as a variable to be

      "filemac:/Volumes/SpecificVolume/Folderonthatvolume/20150213_004 VFX HOLDS/nameofpdf.pdf"

Am I making life difficult for myself by including the spaces in the folder name when I create it?

If I have permission to make a folder on that server and if I can drag/ drop files into that folder, I should be allowed to write to it, shouldn't I?   All help appreciated.
